7 kinds of solo mid players you will encounter as a teammate in Dota 2

Welcome to Dota 2 public matchmaking, where everyone wants to go mid! Some solo mid players will lead you to victory. Others will lead you to your demise. And then there are those that will lead you to remember them for their attitude, not their playstyle. Check out the different kinds of solo mid players you’ll encounter in Dota 2 public matchmaking:

1. The courier hogger

It’s one thing to dedicatedly bottle crow in the mid lane. After all, there are some games where a big advantage can be gained by winning mid. However, it’s another to hog the courier. The courier hogger, as the name suggests, has no understanding of sharing the courier. He can’t and sometimes refuses to coordinate with teammates when using the courier. He likes keeping it in one spot where no one is allowed to touch it because he might need it. When that will be, he’s not really sure.

2.The paranoid player

Playing in the mid lane needs awareness, something which this guy may be trying to compensate with. The paranoid solo mid player always expect ganks even if all five enemy heroes are visible in the map. Even without any basis whatsoever, he is somehow sure that the enemy is hiding something in the stash or that there are quad creep stacks waiting for the enemy in the jungle at two minutes. He can be comforted by sending supports to gank mid and get kills or zone out the enemy, and this advantage may even give him the confidence to bully his enemy on his own, allowing the supports to finally tend to other lanes.

3. The hardcore fan

Sometimes, “don’t worry, I saw (insert solo mid player) do this!” actually makes you worry. This solo mid player faithfully follows and sometimes even documents the amazing exploits of his favorite solo mid pro player. Whether it’s Mushi, Dendi, or Ferrari430, this guy is sure to attempt to copy them and _tell you about it. He has no regard for the enemy line up, your own team’s line up, or the current status of the game. He’s using his favorite player’s moves, so it’s definitely bound to succeed. Right?
