Facebook is Essential For Brands In India

“A study by Indian web strategy firm Iffort Consulting examined the Facebook usage of 25 brands from seven industry verticals and it was revealed that organizations are using tactics like poll contests, interesting apps and videos to drive participation.

The study found that youth-oriented brands tend to dominate in India. The most popular brand in terms of Facebook ‘likes’ is MTV-India, with 522,112 Fans on July 28. MTV-India is also the brand with the highest growth, with daily growth of about 3,846 ‘likes’, and the most discussed brand with 2,085 interactions each day.”

India, like China, is slowly becoming one of the global superpowers. With proper governance, it will get there, and many brands are taking notice of its growth. As the population become more affluent, so are the people’s buying power. It’s a huge market that cannot be missed. Connecting with Indians via Facebook is a good start. But if brands are serious on capturing the market, there are several more digital channels, which could better reach them.
