Business woman with a laptopIt is now understandable why women dominate social media.

Last month, NBC Universal’s Oxygen Media polled 1,605 U.S. adults who use social media, and found that 34 percent of them check Facebook before brushing their teeth, and nearly 40 percent of them are self-described “Facebook addicts.”

Women also don’t seem to have a problem with privacy, a controversial subject:

    1. – 63 percent use Facebook for networking and career, but 42 percent don’t have a problem with posting photos of them “visibly intoxicated.”
    2. – 32 percent think photos of themselves or others making obscene gestures are appropriate as well
    3. – 56 percent of Twitter users surveyed are fine with letting their followers know their current location
    4. – 53 percent post personal problems they are having at the moment.
    5. – 85 percent of women think its okay to post photos of a “girls or guys night out.”
    6. – 79 percent see no reason to post photos with kissing in them.
    7. – 73 percent have no problem with someone posting images of a bachelorette party.
    Pros and Cons

No wonder we see cases of jealousy sprouting out of relationships – thanks to social media addiction. According to The Nielsen Company, U.S. Facebook users spend 1 in 3 minutes of total time online, on Facebook. Are we spending as much time on our loved ones?

Even though social media has become a huge part of our lives, and business, we have to be aware of its dangers as well. You might just lose your job or insurance coverage due to lack of discretion. Remember, nothing is a secret online, and everything you post will live on forever, even after you delete them.
