AnyPerk, Japan’s first YCombinator graduate, nabs $8.5M series A

The AnyPerk team

AnyPerk, the startup making it easier for companies to shower their employees with fun extras, just grabbed US$8.5 million in series A funding, according to TechCrunch. The company last raised money in June 2014, to the tune of a US$4.5 million seed round.

DCM Ventures and Digital Garage funded this round, joining Andreessen Horowitz and SV Angel as backers of the company. AnyPerk first garnered attention a few years ago for being the first Japanese team to make it into YCombinator. (Disclosure: TechinAsia is currently being incubated at YCombinator. See our ethics page for more information.)

When we caught up with CEO Taro Fukuyama last year, he told us that the company was operating with 25 employees. Now, it has grown to 45 staff and reportedly grew 200 percent since last June.

Companies which sign up for AnyPerk can draw on the startup’s deep partner list to provide discounts, special rates, and other benefits to their employees. Current clients include Zendesk, Quora, Pinterest, and Square.
