Singapore now ranks among OpenAI’s top five markets globally in Codex adoption, an OpenAI spokesperson told Tech in Asia. This is based on the number of weekly active users and engagement – measured in blended token usage – in the city-state.
In late April, OpenAI said the AI coding tool had passed 4 million weekly active users, up from 3 million two weeks prior.
The firm also said at the time that it was partnering with firms like Accenture, Capgemini, and PwC to onboard enterprise teams through hands-on workshops.
Codex competes with other AI coding tools like Claude Code and Cursor that are capable of reading codebases and making changes across files, though it can also be used as an AI assistant for general workplace tasks.
