Survey: Best Brands On Mobile Web

BuzzCity recently released its findings of brands that are likely to meet the needs of mobile Internet users.

The survey, which was conducted in ten countries on 1500 users, tests which brands under different categories are favored by the mobile Internet audience, why they are preferred, and how probable they would be recommended by users.

It is found that users base their brand preferences on brand performance first, style and then price.

The top 10 international brands with the most appeal in the mobile Internet were put together by measuring their scores across product sectors and markets. They must also appear as best brands in at least 2 markets.

    Here are the results!

Top 10 international brands on Mobile Internet

    1. KFC
    2. McDonald’s
    3. Sony
    4. Nestlé
    5. Samsung
    6. Nokia
    7. LG
    8. Coca-Cola
    9. Panasonic
    10. Philips

In other findings, many generally popular brands are unexpectedly less popular with mobile users. This really levels up the playing field for less established brands in the mobile market.

Mobile users also proved themselves to be great brand advocates who will regularly make recommendations to others – big incentive for brands to share more product information through the mobile channel, especially in areas like food and electronics.

Buzzcity also found that although a significant percentage of mobile users recommends their favorite brands to peers, only 4% would do so in reaction to sales promotions. This is a great insight for brands, which are creating campaigns that rely on advocates.

While some brands such as Apple managed to come up with promising strategies for the mobile market, most brands are still unfocused and inconsistent in their marketing efforts across markets. As seen, there is a lot of potential in the mobile market, especially with it being considerably viral.

Brands with foresight should be leveraging on it by coming up with goal-oriented and consistent mobile Internet campaigns.
