European gaming giant Koch Media opens Hong Kong base as it expands in Asia

European game developer and publisher Koch Media announced its plans to expand deeper into Asia with the launch of a regional base in Hong Kong.

The company runs a multilabel strategy with several publishing units that it fully owns, namely Deep Silver, Ravenscourt, Milestone, and Vertigo Publishing, among others. Currently, it owns a total of 14 local publishing companies and 10 game development studios globally and employs over 1,800 people.

The European game publisher said that having a regional base in Hong Kong would help it connect to “massive” opportunities in Asia Pacific, which it says accounts for the largest revenue source of the global gaming market.

According to Jeremy Zitna, Koch Media’s territory and licensing manager for Asia, the Hong Kong office will be responsible for the company’s marketing activities in the region, covering Greater China, Korea, and Southeast Asia. It will also promote Koch Media’s game releases in Asia and improve the brand image of its games in the region.

“Hong Kong is the perfect candidate for our office with its international background, official language use of English and Chinese, and perfect location in the heart of Asia,” he added.

Meanwhile, Koch Media managing director for Hong Kong Andreas Tobler said the company received support from Invest Hong Kong for its expansion into the market. The government-backed unit is responsible for foreign direct investment, helping overseas businesses set up and expand in Hong Kong.
