New entrepreneurship program for technology experts announced in Singapore

infocomm development authority of singaporeInfocomm Investments, the investment arm of Singapore’s Infocomm Development Authority (IDA), announced yesterday it will be partnering with Entrepreneur First, a British accelerator that helps computer experts turn their ideas into successful startups.

News of the program was released at Singapore’s Istana (the country’s presidential residence), during the official commencement of IDA’s Smart Nations conference taking place this week in Singapore.

Entrepreneur First’s programs involve six months of training and support. They are aimed exclusively at technical founders, such as computer scientists, engineers, and hackers, in order to help them with the business running and fundraising minutiae that might elude a technically minded professional.

The company has already helped found 20 startups in Europe, collectively valued at over US$100 million. The startups cover a wide range of technology fields such as 3D printing, drones, Bitcoin, and so on. The IDA hopes that this new partnership will help local technology experts and talents who are not necessarily business minded to develop their idea into a successful enterprise.
