East Ventures, Gojek’s VC arm joins $2.7m round of Vietnamese digital media firm
Vietcetera, a Vietnamese digital media startup, has raised US$2.7 million in pre-series A round led by North Base Media, a media-focused venture capital firm.
The round also saw participation of Gojek’s Go-Ventures, East Ventures, Summit Media, Genesia Ventures, and Z Venture Corporation – the VC unit of Z Holdings, the merged entity of Yahoo Japan and Line.
According to Vietcetera, Singaporean and Vietnamese family offices joined the round as well.

In March, Vietcetera also announced a US$700,000 investment led by Japan’s Genesia Ventures.
Founded in 2016, Vietcetera says its platform reaches more than 20 million users per month, mostly from the home market.
The startup adds that it has witnessed “rapid audience and revenue growth” as consumers in Vietnam, especially Gen Z audience (those born in 1996 or later), demand high-quality multimedia content.
One of Vietcetera’s most viral content is a rap music video featuring David Kritenbrink, a former US ambassador to Vietnam. The video was released in February to welcome the Lunar New Year.
The startup plans to use the freshly raised capital to expand its content catalog by adding new shows and podcasts. It will also invest in further developing its mobile app, business intelligence, and content licensing, among others.
