Brunei is having an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament, sign up or it won’t have any more!

We Asians are more passive than active, but this is a good time to wake up and start doing something if you’re in Brunei: the Brunei Times Square shopping mall is holding an Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament later this week, and according to a source, only six people have signed up so far. The attendance rate is so low that the mall is considering giving up on hosting fighting game tournaments entirely.

One big reason could be that the competition is being held on May 29 and 30, Thursday and Friday respectively. While Friday is an off day for those who work in Bruneian government outfits and companies that follow that work schedule, the first tournament day, Thursday, is still a work day for everyone.

However this particular Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 tournament boasts a cash prize pot of nearly $500 and organizer Times Square Shopping Centre is even providing fight sticks for competitors. Tournament rules are also ridiculously basic: button check before each match, don’t press the start button mid-match, show up for your game to not get disqualified.

Maybe a few heroic individuals could call in sick or take some time off to support the cause?
