Shim joins FinAccel after serving as senior finance leader at Slack for three years. While at the professional messaging platform firm, he helped build Slack’s finance and operational function and oversaw the acquisition of Slack by Salesforce.

“I’m delighted to welcome him to our board of directors and to leverage his insights as we expand our footprint and work towards an IPO in the next 12 to 24 months,” said Akshay Garg, group CEO and board chair of FinAccel.

FinAccel also made key appointments in November. These include onboarding Chao Gao as CTO, Jean Lua as chief human resources officer, Matt Mullarkey as general counsel, and Wisaksana Djawi as director of Krom Bank.

The company also became a unicorn this year, almost tripling its valuation to US$1.6 billion after a US$140 million fundraise.
