In brief: Go-Jek said to be mulling purchase of JD’s Indonesian finance biz

Go-Jek rumored to back JD’s local finance business (Indonesia). The ride-hailing unicorn is said to be close to acquiring a stake in the Chinese internet giant’s finance affiliate in Indonesia. The deal could lead to Go-Jek merging with or acquiring JD Finance’s Indonesia operations, alongside an ecommerce partnership with JD, sources said.

JD participated in Go-Jek’s most recent funding round, which raised an estimated US$1.5 billion. The Chinese company has been seeking to make inroads into the Indonesian market, and opened a brick-and-mortar automated store in Jakarta earlier this month – its first outside of China.
