Dailyhunt parent VerSe acquires Indian photo-sharing platform Vebbler

VerSe Innovation, the parent company of news aggregator Dailyhunt, announced that it has acquired India-based Vebbler, a community-focused application for sharing photos and videos.

The acquisition will help VerSe develop its camera and social engagement capabilities as well as capture the US$100 billion revenue opportunity of India’s local language users.

Vebbler lets people join groups called “clubs” and share photos and videos around different interests like fashion, travel, photography, and entertainment. Users can also create content using Vebbler’s camera, with creation tools such as AI-based neural-art filters, effects, stickers, drawing tools, and fonts, along with video processing and editing.

“We have every intent to make good on our investor and consumer confidence and will continue to build and acquire powerful tools and technologies that deliver products which are consumer-focused and content-forward,” said VerSe founder Virendra Gupta.

Vebbler was initially designed as a private way for users to share photos and videos with friends in real time at events such as holidays, weddings, and concerts. It pivoted to become an interest-based network in 2018.

In February, VerSe raised over US$100 million in a series H round led by sovereign wealth fund Qatar Investment Authority and Glade Brook Capital Partners.

VerSe, which plans to use the latest funding to develop its content creator system, also acquired AI solutions provider Cognirel Technologies last month.
