Crossfire-style FPS Black Squad releases new trailer

UPDATE: Smilegate reps wish to emphasize that Black Squad is not affiliated with Crossfire.

When it comes to FPS games in Asia, nothing beats Crossfire. In fact, nothing even comes particularly close. Crossfire is the highest-earning free-to-play game in the world. But it’s also quite old, and its graphics are stating to look decidedly dated.

Enter Black Squad, an upcoming free-to-play shooter from Korea’s NS Studio and Neowiz. The game, which was announced earlier this year and which will enter its first closed beta in Korea later this month, is basically Crossfire 2.0. It’s a twitchy competitive multiplayer shooter that looks a lot like a much prettier version of Crossfire. Built with the Unreal Engine 3, Black Squad looks pretty damn modern, and based on the liberal use of scopes and sights in the game’s trailers, it might just feel a bit more modern, too.

And just for fun, here’s an older teaser trailer in case you missed it:

Since the game hasn’t yet launched in Korea, it’ll probably be a while before the rest of the world gets its hands on Black Squad. Until then, Crossfire fans, all you can do is look and drool.
