The Creative Finder Portfolio Service Growing Strong, Adds New ‘Fave’ Feature

When we last heard about portfolio web service The Creative Finder, from Design Taxi, it was rolling out a new embed function that allowed hosted images to be displayed on external sites with links back to the creators’ profiles. And now the service is adding another fun feature with ‘Fave Galleries,’ adding a sort of democratic element to the site, as users can like specific images and drive more clicks towards that image and the creator’s portfolio.

For users, it allows them to save photos they like in a handy ‘favorites’ folder (see an example here) that they can reference at a later time. In addition, users can become curators or taste-makers, and even gain followers on the platform.

It’s good to see the service adding more features for users, but how many people are actually using the service so far?

The company tells me that growth is indeed strong, with two million visits in May and 500 to 600 members added each day, and over 3,000 images being uploaded every day. As the company is still bootstrapping, they haven’t done any ad buys, but are actively promoting the new platform via the Design Taxi sister site and on social media sites too. Traffic is also generated by members too, because as they promote their portfolios they are also promoting The Creative Finder.

So if you are a graphic artist or a photographer looking for an alternative way to display your work, you might give this service a try. Note that the free plan is fairly limiting, but if you lack the time or skills to create your own portfolio site, this might be a good option.
