Just in time for Halloween, Indonesian indie devs release trailer for new horror game

If you’re in the mood to get scared, Digital Happiness’s 2014 game DreadOut is a damn good option. The Indonesian indie devs put together a horror game that isn’t without its flaws, but packs some genuine scares along with a unique Southeast Asian flavor.

But that was a year ago. Thankfully, as the Halloween holiday descends on us for another year, Digital Happiness has announced another game in the DreadOut series. DreadOut: Keepers of The Dark will be coming to Steam later this year. But you can get a taste of it right now with this trailer the devs have just posted on their Facebook.

If you’re not into black and white games, don’t worry – that’s likely just a stylistic choice Digital Happiness made for the trailer – previous DreadOut games have been in color.

From this trailer, it looks like Keepers of The Dark will follow pretty closely with the story introduced in DreadOut. Linda, the student getting her wits scared out in the original game, returns as the sequel’s protagonist, and it looks like Keepers of The Dark will retain DreadOut’s Fatal Frame-style photographic combat gameplay and colorful cast of Indonesian-folklore-inspired monsters, too.
