These are Japan’s 15 most-funded startups (INFOGRAPHIC)

Japan’s top-funded startups have been hustling. This year, every company on the list has raised over US$20 million, compared to barely half last year. These past few weeks have seen a flurry of deals by BizReach, Midokura, and Soracom that shot the three companies up the rankings.

According to the Tech in Asia database, fintech overtook ecommerce as the hottest vertical with over US$140 million invested across 18 deals in 2015 thanks to anticipated changes to banking regulations. But biotech is nothing to sneeze at with Spiber tripling its funding and itsy-bitsying its way to the top with US$127 million raised.

(Update: This was originally published on May 8, 2015. On June 29, 2016, we updated the list.)
