Chinese ride-hailing major Didi to go public in the US
“Chinese ride-hailing company Didi revealed a US$1.6 billion net loss for 2020 as it moves ahead with plans for a US initial public offering,” reported Bloomberg.
Details
- In its filing, Didi pegged the offering at US$100 million, which is expected to change as terms for the share sale come in. Goldman Sachs Group, Morgan Stanley, and JPMorgan Chase are leading the sale.
- The filing revealed that SoftBank’s Vision Fund, Uber, and Tencent, have a combined stake of 41% in Didi, of which SoftBank holds 21.5%.
Context:
- Didi is currently valued at around US$95 billion, said a Bloomberg source.
- The company is present in 15 countries. Earlier this year, Didi was reportedly planning to enter Europe.
