Chinese LoL team LMQ wins NACS, chugs towards LCS promotion

I’ve written a few times before about LMQ, the Chinese professional League of Legends team that transplanted itself from China and the LPL to the US and dreams of the LCS last year. The team has been stomping the North American challenger scene as it marches towards the LCS summer promotion tournament, and this morning it secured the number one spot in that tournament by beating Cloud 9 Tempest 3-2 and winning the North American Championship Series final.

LMQ had actually already secured a spot in the promotion tournament, but this win is important because it ensures LMQ will play the lowest-ranked LCS team. That means that at least in theory, its road to LCS promotion should be a little bit easier than the other two challenger teams that will take part in the promotion tournament.

For more on LMQ, be sure to check out our exclusive interview with the team’s midlaner Xiaoweixiao, who played a crucial role in the team’s victory today.
