The fundraising was led by global investor Globis Capital, emerging tech-focused private equity firm Rhodium, and Viola Ventures, which is part of the Israeli investment group Viola.
Listory offers mobile and web applications that group together content, be it articles, videos, and podcasts that are relevant to its users’ interests. It recommends stories from newsletters and curators in each field, which it then further refines by taking into account the user’s list of followed people and the time they had spent reading past articles.
As part of its rollout, Listory launched an initiative that allows its users to get US$0.10 in credit by submitting a better story they have found elsewhere should the first article they see on the app doesn’t fit their preference. Users can then use the credits they earn to subscribe to a media outlet of their choice.
”We’re excited and thankful for the investor support and user adoption, and we’re eager to keep refining our content,” said Listory CEO Yaniv Gilad. “That’s why we invite our users to challenge us on a daily basis to show that we truly believe in the content we present them with.”
Listory was founded in March 2020 after Gilad and its active chairman Yaron Galai had completed a management buyout from discovery platform Outbrain. It is currently headquartered in New York.
