Square Enix releases Final Fantasy IV: The After Years video trailer, coming to mobile soon
Square Enix recently announced that it will release Final Fantasy IV: The After Years — which is a sequel to Final Fantasy IV — for iPhone, iPod touch, iPad, and Android devices in winter 2013. The teaser trailer features only a little in-game footage, so it’s still too early to tell what the game will actually look like compared to the iOS and Android version of Final Fantasy IV. The game has been given a style makeover with 3D character models and touchscreen controls. From the trailer, it does seem that the graphics and gameplay do look a lot smoother and cleaner.
Final Fantasy IV: The After Years was initially released in 2008 on Japanese mobile phones before it was released on the on the Wii shop channel in 2009. Two years later, it was released as a compilation on the Playstation Portable. What most people may feel from previous experiences of Final Fantasy games released by Square Enix is that they come with a slightly steep price tag. The game was not a critical favorite on the Wii, but perhaps this new smartphone version will pique gamers’ interests.
