“China is considering boosting the status of its antitrust bureau within the market regulatory agency as it steps up a campaign against anti-competitive behavior,” according to a CNA report that cited sources.
Details:
- The antitrust unit will be called the National Antimonopoly Bureau and will have deputy ministerial status. It will still fall under the State Administration for Market Regulation (SAMR).
- This status promotion boosts the bureau’s access to funding and will let SAMR conduct its own research instead of outsourcing it.
