Are you a China Mobile user in Beijing? Itching to try out the company’s lightning fast 4G-LTE network? China Mobile still isn’t allowed to commercially offer the network, but the company is now accepting applications from customers to become “test” users of the network.
Of course, there are a few conditions. You must have been a China Mobile customer for at least a year, and you need to be paying more than 50 RMB a month with no history of missing payments and using at least 50 MB of data per month. If that’s you, you can apply with China Mobile, and after you turn in a 500 RMB ($80) deposit, you’ll be issued a 4G dongle and USIM card with which you can enjoy up to 15 GB in 4G goodness each month for the next six months. The company does ask that you answer a bimonthly questionnaire about your experiences, but that’s a small price to pay for the privilege of getting your hands on that sweet 4G goodness before the rest of the country does.
