According to a new study from the folks over at iResearch, iPhone users in China are a little bit different than average smartphone users in that country — but perhaps not in the way you might think.
First of all, a typical iPhone user in China is a little bit older than other smartphone users. The survey says that 58.6 percent of iPhone users fall in the 25 to 34 age range, whereas for other smartphones not even 50 percent make up that group. iResearch attributes this partly to the iPhone’s higher price, but it also says that older individuals often demand advanced features and functions that are timely, social, and business-related. In contrast they say, younger users tend to focus on entertainment and chatting.

In addition, the survey asserts that iPhone users surf the internet far less than other smartphone users. While only 54 percent of Chinese iPhone users browse the web multiple times a day, 71 percent of smartphones users are prone to such surfing. iResearch attributes this to the many other powerful functions found on an iPhone.

The iPhone is branded as a device that is hip and cool, so it’s somewhat surprising to these results. Personally if I had seen the numbers alone, I’d have guessed they were for Blackberry.
