The CMO’s guide to the social media landscape gets a refresh. We wrote about it last year and this year it is back with crucial updates. As social media continues to change with time, it is hard for users to keep up with them.
This infographic serves to help marketers to quickly understand how each tool could help in an online campaign in four main ways. We have categorized the best tools into the four main groups, according to CMO’s guide.
1. Customer communication: Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, Tumblr
2. Brand Exposure: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Digg, Tumblr
3. Traffic to site: Digg, StumbleUpon
4. SEO: Flickr, YouTube, Digg, StumbleUpon, Tumblr
In Asia, the following infographic works for countries like Singapore, India, Malaysia and Indonesia where people use more or less the same social tools. However, for countries with fragmented social media users, the infographic might not apply.
For example, in Taiwan, Facebook is number one for social networking but for microblogging, the country prefers Plurk or Sina Weibo. The situation becomes complex in China where users can’t even access Facebook, YouTube and Twitter. Even the search market is dominated by local product, Baidu. As far as we can see, the Asia market is a different ball game for marketers. More localization effort is needed to achieve better performance.
