Ex-Oyo execs’ edtech firm bags $78m in series B money

Teachmint, an India-based edtech platform, has raised US$78 million in its latest round of funding.

  • The new round pushes the total amount of funds raised by Teachmint to US$118 million.
  • The edtech firm said it will use the fresh capital to develop its classroom tech, as well as to expand into international markets.
  • Teachmint also said it has grown its user base to over 10 million in India, and it aims to hit over 100 million users globally in the near term.
  • The startup plans to double its workforce in the next six months, and it will soon roll out its largest employee stock option plan buyback program.
  • Teachmint is also eyeing acquisitions in the near future, as well as partnerships with players across the education ecosystem.
  • In July, the company raised US$20 million in its pre-series B round led by Learn Capital, with participation from CM Ventures.
  • Teachmint was founded by Mihir Gupta and Payoj Jain, former executives of hospitality startup Oyo; Divyansh Bordia, who previously worked at food delivery platform Swiggy; and Anshuman Kumar, who was the former head of machine learning and data engineering at video-sharing service Roposo.
