AI photography platform secures $6m in series A round

AI photography startup SweetEscape banked US$6 million in a series A round led by Singapore’s Openspace Ventures and Jungle Ventures.

Burda Principal Investments, the venture capital arm of European media conglomerate Hubert Burda Media, also participated in the round alongside existing investors.

The Jakarta-based startup plans to use the new investment to further develop its AI technology, expand its presence across Asia, and double its team size by the end of the year. It currently has 100 employees across Jakarta, Singapore, and Manila.

Founded in 2017, SweetEscape connects travelers with local photographers. It also uses AI image processing to automate the post-prodcution process in photography.

The startup’s focus has been travel photography, but it has also started moving into the business photography segment. It claims to have provided services such as food photography, real-estate photography, and headshots to companies like WeWork, Procter & Gamble, and HSBC.
