The size of the deal is pegged at nearly US$100 million, a source with knowledge on the matter told Tech in Asia.

The takeover is the latest in the edtech behemoth’s acquisition spree. The Bengaluru-based company has spent over US$2 billion in buying 10 companies this year.

GeoGebra’s acquisition will likely boost Byju’s efforts to make math more engaging and produce better learning outcomes, the latter said. GeoGebra will continue to operate as an independent unit under the leadership of its founder, Markus Hohenwarter, within the Indian firm’s umbrella.

Founded in 2013, GeoGebra has over 100 million learners across 195 countries, bringing together geometry, algebra, spreadsheets, graphing, statistics, and calculus in an easy-to-use format.

“GeoGebra was born out of a passion to help students learn math in a visually appealing and engaging manner. Our shared passion for learning and teaching resonates with Byju’s, making them a perfect partner for our onward journey,” said Hohenwarter.
