Beyond Blocks, a producer of blockchain-focused events, has cancelled its upcoming conference in Hong Kong due to a “downturn in the market.”
The inaugural Beyond Blocks Impact event was scheduled to take place in Hong Kong on April 15, with local blockchain services provider Genesis Block co-hosting.

In a statement, the events producer said the “downturn” has made it “take stock internally on how best to move ahead, including the future of Beyond Blocks.” As a result, plans for its Beyond Blocks Summit in Seoul later this year have also been “put on hold.”
The company said that everyone who has purchased tickets for the Hong Kong event will get a refund over the next three days. “We apologize if any plans have been made for Hong Kong next month or [for] any inconvenience caused due to the cancellation of the event,” Beyond Blocks said.
It added it will be reaching out directly to partners and prospective attendees of its Seoul event “shortly to further explain the situation.”
Beyond Blocks held events in Bangkok, Hong Kong, Seoul, and Tokyo in 2018. It claims over 6,000 people attended its conferences last year, while more than 100 sponsors and exhibitors partnered with it.
“Beyond Blocks’ key purpose was always to showcase the best blockchain has to offer and to provide insight into how we can progress as an industry,” the statement said. “We would very much like to carry on doing that, but the current state of the industry makes it a huge challenge to carry on putting on the quality of events everyone has come to love.”
The company thanked its “friends and partners,” but said its current troubles are “not the end but just a pause for now” as it works on “delivering a refined platform.”
