In brief: Indonesian health platform Halodoc nets $65m series B funding from UOB, SingTel

Halodoc, an Indonesian healthcare platform, has raised US$65 million in a series B funding round led by UOB Venture Management. Participating investors include SingTel Innov8, Korea Investment Partners, and WuXi Apptec, along with several other existing investors.

The startup plans to use the funds to continue building its technology and infrastructure, as well as expand strategic partnerships with hospitals and other health service providers in Indonesia.

Founded in 2016, Halodoc lets users communicate directly with more than 20,000 licensed doctors in Indonesia. The startup also has 1,300 partner pharmacies, from whom users can order home lab tests and medicine through one-hour delivery.

Among Halodoc’s early backers are Singapore’s Clermont and Openspace Ventures.

Go-Jek is also an investor and strategic partner in the startup. Back in 2017, the ride-hailing unicorn shut down its Go-Med medicine delivery service and redirected users to Halodoc.

According to Frost & Sullivan data, the Indonesian healthcare industry is estimated to reach US$21 billion in size by 2019.
