About a month ago, I woke up feeling really lethargic after a poor night’s sleep, but my eyes popped open in excitement when I saw that the Dallas Mavericks had traded a bunch of hardly used bench players for Christian Wood.
Hopefully, today’s premium update on the latest funding movements in Southeast Asia has a similar effect on you.
- Overview: In the past year, 887 funding rounds have been raised in the region totalling US$28.8 billion, with general internet, ecommerce, and logistics and transportation getting the lion’s share of the deals.
- Outliers: There have been a few companies that have enjoyed larger-than-usual funding rounds. These include AnyMind Group (series D, US$29 million), KitaBeli (series B, US$20 million), and Pintarnya (seed round, US$8 million).
- Outstanding: The top three fastest-growing verticals in terms of funding rounds in the past three months – compared to a year ago – are fintech, gaming, and artificial intelligence.
