Beenext was founded in 2015 by Teruhide Sato, founder and former CEO of Japan-based global conglomerate Beenos, to invest in startups from India, Southeast Asia, Japan, and the US. Since then, it has made more than 80 investments in various internet and mobile-related businesses.
It has backed companies such as Singapore-based fashion ecommerce firm Zilingo, Indonesian business-to-business marketplace Ralali, Indian agritech firm Cropin, Vietnam-based online marketplace Sendo, and Japanese HR services provider SmartHR, among others.
Beenext has also had a number of exits from its investments, with the most notable ones including Indian ecommerce startup GoZefo, Filipino blockchain firm Coins.ph, and Gurgaon-based logistics services company NuvoEx.
In an interview with DealStreetAsia earlier this year, Beenext operating partner Nao Ito said that the firm plans to look towards businesses in healthcare and agriculture for its next investments.
Since the interview, the company has led or participated in investment rounds for Indian AI-powered healthtech startup Niramai Health Analytix, Bangalore-based fintech startup Open, Singapore spacetech firm NuSpace, and HR marketplace Snaphunt.
