Our list of the most active investors in Chinese firms has been ranked based on the number of deals made by each organization in the last 24 months. The mind-boggling numbers on display should be a testament to not only the belief some of these investors have in the Chinese market but also their deep pockets. If you’re a Chinese startup, getting on their good side is definitely a wise idea.
- Investor out of water: Perhaps most surprisingly, the top spot goes to US-based Sequoia Capital. As the top foreign entity on the list, it’s made a whopping 357 deals in the last two years, with some of the latest ones being in Xuanxing Technology, Hiwemed, and Exway. The rest of the list is mostly made up of Chinese investors, with the next highest-placing foreign firm being GGV Capital at a relatively modest 96 deals.

Taking care of their own: Despite the top spot going to a foreign organization, Chinese investors are not to be trifled with either. Out of the 100 companies we listed, 88 of them are from China. Investors such as Hillhouse Capital (226 deals) and Tencent Investment (221 deals) make an appearance, with their latest deals being with Zhiyi Technology and Ingeek, respectively.
