Singapore-based beauty services marketplace Wellnessly has been acquired by Malaysia’s Beaupass, a booking website for beauty and wellness services, it announced today.

The terms of the deal are not disclosed.

The acquisition gives Beaupass a head start in Singapore.

The Singaporean startup, founded in 2014, was interested in other countries in the region when it came across Beaupass in Kuala Lumpur, Wellnessly’s Robyn Tan tells Tech in Asia.

“Beaupass was expanding into Singapore and we found synergy with their plans,” she says.

The acquisition gives Beaupass a head start in Singapore with Wellnessly’s over 3,500 listings at the time of the deal, which was completed in February. In the last three months, Wellnessly had about 30,000 unique monthly visitors and was growing at 15 percent, Robyn says.

Wellnessly will be integrated into Beaupass on May 1. Part of the team will be transitioning over.

Beaupass was founded in August and will expand further in Southeast Asia next. Target markets include Hong Kong, Taiwan, Bangkok, and Jakarta.

“We like what the team has done. It’s one of the very few beauty sites the locals find really useful,” says Low Elvin, CEO of Beaupass, in a statement. “So we think this will be a good way to put both teams together and take it further.”

Singapore is also home to rival Vanitee, which completed its seed round worth US$3.5 million in December and is looking to expand to Malaysia. Rocket Internet joint Vaniday also operates in Singapore, while former Rocket Internet man Pawel Netreba’s Bfab is active in Malaysia.
