Indonesia’s traditional supply chains are rife with issues. Wholesalers and distributors often face problems such as such as stock-outs, lack of data visibility, and supply chain losses from product expirations.

Baskit aims to simplify operations for intermediaries by providing a digital platform that offers logistics support, funding, go-to-market initiatives, and order visibility.

Yann Schuermans, co-founder and CEO of Baskit, is convinced that enhancing the underlying infrastructure is crucial to boost the adoption of digital commerce. He describes Baskit as an infrastructure enabler that helps offline distribution channels become equipped to operate online.

“We are focused on working with the infrastructure that already exists, helping millions of entrepreneurs to provide the right platform for digital commerce to thrive in the future, without having to rebuild what is already there,” he tells Tech in Asia.

Launched in 2022, Baskit is still in early growth stage. Nevertheless, Schuermans noted that the company’s gross margins are comparable to those of software businesses.

Although he doesn’t consider Baskit to have direct competitors, he acknowledges that companies like Sirclo, Awantunai, and NFrnds provide some similar services.
