Veritrans Indonesia Officially Launches, Aspires to be the Nation’s Payment System

Veritrans Indonesia held a press conference today in Jakarta to officially launch its payment system. A joint-venture between Veritrans Japan, Netprice, and midPlaza group, the payment system promises to deliver online transaction that is easy, cheap, and quick.

Sribu, the first merchant to implement the Veritrans Indonesia payment system, had nice things to say on stage. Its CEO Ryan Gondokusumo explained:

Veritrans Indonesia is able to bring us the pace and speed we needed. […] This payment solution certainly is very helpful to accommodate our foreign customers, it is very easy to understand on both the merchant and the customer side. Simplicity, product, and service delivered are very satisfactory. I’m glad we have trusted Veritrans Indonesia.

Ryu Kawano, CEO of PT. Midtrans [1] , or Veritrans Indonesia, said that Veritrans Indonesia is a payment UX company, stressing on the user experience as part of the payment system. Trying to simplify payments for merchants and customers alike. Consistency and easy navigation are also part of UX. At the same time integration with Veritrans Indonesia is quick compared to the traditional banks (7 days compared to 30-60 days). Internet connections in Indonesia aren’t always stable so Veritrans has built a landing page that has a lower load time, providing better usability.

Veritrans Indonesia has acquired several merchants in its first few months with Sribu (in August), KrazyMarket (in September), and Qeon Interactive and BerryBenka (in October). It hopes to add hundreds more to its payment system whether they are a startup company or a large multi-national company.

Question marks still linger whether Veritrans can help solve the payment problems that we are facing here in Indonesia e-commerce market. But it’s certainly encouraging to see more big players try to address the issue.
