China’s Alibaba Launches Japan Relief Effort

China e-commerce giant, Alibaba has launched a Japan earthquake relief effort through AliExpress, an online international marketplace. To help, users can purchase relief items like tents, flood light and walkie talkie and deliver them over to Japan at no cost. Donors have to specify “Japan Earthquake Relief” as the address at checkout. The purchased items will be sent to the warehouse in Shanghai where AliExpress will then ship the goods directly to Japan.

“ All disaster relief supplies for sale through this effort are at cost, and AliExpress will ship donations to Japan free of charge,” an Alibaba spokesperson said.

Groupon and Google are other Internet companies, which have helped Japan after the earthquake disaster.
