Good news, Apple fans in Hong Kong!
If you are a hardcore Apple fan, you should know by now that an Apple store will be opening soon in Hong Kong. In fact, it’s here already.
We just received an email alert from Apple saying that the store will officially be opened this coming Saturday (September 24th) at 9am. The new store is located at the International Finance Center (IFC) mall, and Apple Hong Kong is inviting fans to join in the opening ceremony.
For geeks, be sure to bring your iPhones and share pics on Instagram on the 24th. You could also check-in on Foursquare to be the first-ever Apple Hong Kong mayor.
For folks who are new to Apple’s gadgets and software – fret not. On the following Sunday (September 25th), Apple HK has a jam-packed series of workshops, including OS X Lion tutorials, and workshops on Garage Band, iTunes, App Store, and iPhoto. On the hardware front, there’ll be introductions to its gadgets — especially the iPad, iPhone, and iPod.
Interestingly, Apple is quick to offer its Youth programs in Hong Kong. One of its programs, Apple Camp, is a free camp for kids ages 8 to 12, where kids will learn how to create movies using iMovie and other digital skills.
Another localization effort at the Apple HK store includes guest celebrities from across Asia who will be visiting the store in October. Some familiar names include Kazuhito Kikuchi, Cyndi Wang, Yida Huang, Vanness Wu, and Jimmy Hung.
On a related note, Apple is also prepping its Shanghai store, which is rumored to launch this week too – although later this month seems like more realistic timing. Perhaps it’ll be on October 1st, which is a Chinese national holiday. Including the upcoming Shanghai store, Apple will have a total of six stores in Greater China — Five in the mainland, and one in Hong Kong.
