This app lets users read faster despite daily distractions
Human attention – not money – is the most valuable commodity there is, said Angela Duckworth, author of Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance.
The average person’s mind wanders aimlessly 47% of the time, according to a 2010 Harvard study. Add the 24-hour news cycle, the barrage of social media, and the countless distractions for those working from their bedrooms and backyards, and it’s no surprise that people are struggling to focus.

With Bionic Reading, users can streamline textual content and tune out distractions. The reading app revises texts so that the most concise parts of words are highlighted. This guides the eye over the text, which helps the brain remember previously learned words more quickly.
“We are constantly improving the product and identifying a variety of optimizations. Knowledge of typography and technology enables us to drive further user-specific improvements,” the company said.

Bionic Reading has also launched an application programming interface that is currently available on reading platforms Reeder 5, Fiery Feeds, and Lire. The pricing plans for using the API range between US$100 to US$500 per month.
According to the company, users who are affected by dyslexia have reported that the tool helped them immediately understand the content of various works.
