The latest trailer for One Piece: Unlimited World R for Nintendo 3DS has new characters and more

Looks like this week we got another trailer for another Nintendo 3DS game based on a popular anime series. Well, not that I’m complaining, that’s for sure. Last time, it was a 30-second trailer for Attack on Titan: The Last Wings of Mankind. This time, we get the fourth promotional trailer for One Piece: Unlimited World R by Namco Bandai.

From the video, One Piece: Unlimited World R is visually appealing. I like how they were able to retain the manga look and feel in 3D graphics. It doesn’t stray away from how the anime is visually presented. Although we’re not entirely sure about what the game’s story is all about, we can see familiar characters make an appearance in the video.

Players can expect to see Dracule Mihawk, Boa Hancock, Crocodile, Eneru, Hordy Jones, Trafalgar Law, and Caesar Clown among others. What’s interesting is that although the crew encounters characters from before the New World storyline, the video shows them going through significant scenes and battles as their post-timeskip selves. For example, in the video, post-timeskip Roronoa Zoro fights Dracule Mihawk on the Baratie and post-timeskip Monkey D. Luffy battles Crocodile in Alabasta. It kind of makes you wonder what the whole story is about and I think it’s also a good way of experiencing the narrative again.

The four-minute video reveals several characters in the game including new ones like Red and Pat. These characters do not appear in the manga or anime at the moment, but were both designed by One Piece creator Eiichiro Oda himself. The video also revealed voice actors for said original characters. Red will be voiced by Masachika Ichimura who is the voice behind notable characters such as Red XIII (Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children), Mewtwo (Pokemon: The First Movie, Super Smash Bros. Melee), and Jack Skellington (Kingdom Hearts). On the other hand, Pat will be voiced by Tarako, the voice behind Altena (Noir), and Senritsu (Hunter x Hunter).

Fans of the One Piece series should consider buying this title for the Nintendo 3D because it allows you to experience the amazing world of One Piece in a more interactive way. It’s like watching filler episodes or movies, except you have to play through it. And although we don’t know exactly how Eiichiro Oda works his genius when it comes to storylines, but at the very least we can be sure it’s awesome.

One Piece is one of the three largest Weekly Shonen Jump titles known collectively as The Big Three Manga along with Bleach and Naruto.

Here is the four-minute trailer for One Piece: Unlimited World R, which will be available in Japan for the Nintendo 3DS on November 21.
