VC firm Antler has appointed Frank Kang as country head and associate partner for Malaysia. It looks to back over 30 startups across the country in the next three years.
Kang will be in charge of operations and investment strategy in Malaysia, according to a statement.
Before the appointment, Kang co-founded People2, a social networking service backed by SoftBank. He then went on to establish Twitter directory Koreantweeters and beauty ecommerce platform Althea.
Kang also served as a venture partner at Vynn Capital as well as COO and founding partner of LivingSocial Malaysia.
Antler has set up offices across 26 cities globally. Most recently, it announced that it launched a US$60 million fund for the Middle East, North Africa, and Pakistan (MENAP).
The company also appointed Dr. Jonathan Doerr and Romain Assunção as MENAP partners. Its Riyadh cohort, which is launching in September, is looking to support over 60 founders.
Meanwhile, Antler Japan recently closed its first deal, backing local freelancing platform Sollective.
