Indonesian eyewear brand bags series A funding

Indonesia-based Saturdays, an eyewear brand, has raised an undisclosed amount in an Altara Ventures-led series A funding round, where DSG Consumer Partners and its affiliates also participated.

Saturdays said it will use its new funds to expand across Indonesia, strengthen its tech-driven omnichannel platform, and develop its product.

The company sells a range of affordable eyewear using an online-offline approach. It currently operates a website, a dedicated app, and fifteen brick-and-mortar stores – some of which contain cafes. the firm’s digital stores allow users to try on eyewear virtually or at home.

The Indonesian eyewear market is currently worth US$625.70 million and is poised to grow annually by 8.01% until 2025, according to Statista.

Saturdays was founded in 2016  by Andrew Kandolha and Rama Suparta, aiming to make eyewear more accessible.

Eight of the company’s physical stores were launched within the last three months. The firm also recently announced a collaboration with Marvel.
