SCB 10X, the VC arm of Thailand’s Siam Commercial Bank, has named Mukaya Panich as its new CEO. Along with the fresh title, Panich will maintain her current position as chief venture and investment officer.

An MIT and Harvard alumna, Panich joined SCB 10X in 2020 after spending over 20 years working in the technology sector in Silicon Valley, New York, and Singapore. During her tenure at the VC firm, Panich has received recognition for her work in the crypto industry from global institutions such as CB Insights and GCV Institute.
In addition to her appointment, the firm also promoted Pailin Vichakul to the COO position. Vichakul will now report directly to Panich.
Under its new CEO, SCB 10X will set its sights on two main tasks: investing in disruptive tech startups with sound financial returns and building ventures in emerging industries such as blockchain, DeFi, Web3, the metaverse, and deep tech.
SCB 10X said the appointments of two female executives to C-suite positions at a major VC firm in Southeast Asia mark a “historic” moment for women in the field. According to a report from PitchBook, only 15% of general partners at investment organizations are women, and female investors are absent in 70% of VC firms in the US.
