Adways launches app pre-registration platform as Geeeks Play in SEA

Digital advertiser and game publisher Adways is launching its app pre-registration service, Yoyaku Top 10, in Southeast Asia starting with Thailand. It will be known as Geeeks Play (no, that’s not a typo) in Southeast Asia.

Geeeks Play, or Yoyaku Top 10, functions as an app discovery platform. It lets developers list their upcoming games. Users can sign up to be notified when these games launch, and to receive special gift codes from time to time via push notification. This serves to not only engage current users, but to also reach out to inactive users.

Developers in Southeast Asia will be able to use Geeeks Play free of charge until February 27. However this free campaign is subject to change or termination without notice. Each app listed on Geeeks Play during this period can receive up to 2,000 user registrations or 2,000 gift cards.

Yoyaku Top 10 was launched in Japan in January 2013 and, according to Adways, was the world’s first ever mobile app pre-registration service. It has since expanded into markets like Korea, China, and Taiwan with both web and app versions. The app version is most popular in Japan and Taiwan with 165,000 downloads and 210,000 downloads, respectively. Adways did not reveal the number of users for the web version. In total, the company says it has 500,000 registered users for the platform as of November 2014.

While there are companies that have found success on the Yoyaku Top 10 platform, Adways says none of these want their names or results disclosed. It says the maximum downloads achieved via the platform is over 60,000 total downloads across both iOS and Android devices.

Developers interested in trying out the Geeeks Play platform can sign up here and submit their app for review. This review will take about three business days, after which the app will be on the platform. However Geeeks Play is currently only available in Thailand, with no word on when it will launch in the rest of Southeast Asia.
