Sony has finally dated the launch of its new PlayStation Vita ahead of the company’s PlayStation conference next week.
The new PS Vita (PCH-2006), pretty much a ‘PS Vita Slim’, is 20 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than the original, comes with a full 1GB of internal memory, and will be available in a range of colors. It will retail in Singapore for S$299, or about $240.60, where it launches on November 14 at PlayStation Focus Stores nationwide.
Two limited edition PS Vita sets will also hit the market on the same day. The Gundam Breaker Starter Pack and God Eater 2 Fenrir Edition will retail for S$399 ($321.10) and S$369 ($296.90) respectively.
On top of the consoles, there will also be a whole new line of peripherals for the PS Vita. Expect to see the PS Vita soft case, cradle with cable, and protective film, though I’m not sure who’s going to purchase the last item given the overabundance of cheap screen protectors from China on the market.
Better warranties for Asia
Finally, as if in line with Sony’s new push for the PS Vita, the company is improving on the warranty for six Southeast Asian countries. Customers who purchase PS Vitas in Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines will now be entitled to a year’s free repair service. However, there’s no launch date for the new PS Vita in those other countries.
