9 Asian PC games to look forward to in 2014

2014 is an exciting year for games, and Asian-developed games are no exception. I’m sure most of our readers are aware of some of the huge releases scheduled to be coming out of Japan this year, but those aren’t the only reasons to be excited. So with the caveat that there are lots of promising-looking games coming this year and these are just a few of them, here are 9 Asian games to get pumped for this year.

Moonlight Blade

Moonlight Blade (天涯明月刀) is a Tencent-developed MMORPG with an ancient martial arts theme. So what’s the big deal, you might be asking, Chinese martial arts MMORPGs are a dime a dozen? True enough. But just look at the graphics in the video above. This game has the potential to be the best-looking Chinese game ever, and they’ve reportedly only gotten better since that trailer was released back in the summer 2013. Plus, the game has already done a couple rounds of closed beta testing and so far, the buzz is quite good.

Iron Knight

Iron Knight (刀锋铁骑) is another Chinese MMORPG from Tencent, and actually from the same sub-studio that’s making Moonlight Blade. And it’s easy to see why their work gets people excited, because this one looks gorgeous too. As you can probably tell from the trailer, this one’s a bit more focused on more realistic melee combat, including combat on horseback. It looks like a fun combination of the best aspects of Chivalry and Blade & Soul, and if it lives up to that promise, it should be a lot of fun when it arrives for its first beta this Spring.

Bless

Bless (블레스) is an MMORPG from the folks at Neowiz that has been in the works for quite a while. Like a lot of the games on this list it’s an ancient fantasy-themed game, and like a lot of the games on this list it looks quite pretty (as you can tell from the landscapes trailer above).

Tiger Knight

I’ve ranted about how good Tiger Knight (虎豹骑) looks before, so I won’t say too much more here. The game’s being developed by NetDragon’s TQ Digital, which has a history of some success, and it looks like it’s based on realistic ancient warfare, so it definitely has my attention (I prefer realism like this to the everyone-can-fly martial arts games, personally).

Black Desert
