7 signs you should be playing support

Supports are often referred to as the unsung heroes of a team. They do a lot, but don’t really get as much credit as the core players. Playing support isn’t easy, and there are just some people who seem like they were born to play support. Are you one of those people? Maybe this list can help you decide.

1. You are selfless

As a support, you have to prioritize your carry before yourself. As mentioned earlier, supports barely get credit for wins, even if they do a lot to keep the game in their team’s favor. If you’re the type who can handle seeing other people take the glory most of the time (at least in pubs), the support role just might be for you.

2. You are not a whiner

You see, a lot of people claim they want to play support, but they whine about the little things that they should’ve expected when they signed up for the job. For example, you’re definitely going to get focused on by the enemy during team fights because you’re squishy and/or have important spells. There’s just no escaping that, so if you’re the type who isn’t easily fazed by sticks and stones in spite of them breaking your bones, go for it!

3. You have good time management and multitasking skills

Among the many things a support does is to check the runes, ward the map, stack the creep camps, and make sure your carry is alive and farming. Oh, and, sometimes, you have to gank, too. And not die. The best supports know how to do this very effectively with barely a wasted second. If you know how to do this consecutively or better yet, all at the same time, you’re destined to play support.

4. You get a rash when you can’t light up the map

Warding to keep the map well-lit is one of the basic jobs of a support. It gives your team vision to avoid or set up ganks and keep tabs on the enemy’s movement. If you get a nagging feeling that you should do something about the map when it’s dark, that might be some support instincts right there. Why not put it to good use?

5. You’ve bought a lot of couriers

And I mean a lot. What are you going to use them for? You bought them to use them and you know it. Just give in and play support.
