Chinese LOL team LMQ qualifies for the LCS (NA's professional league)

Former LPL team LMQ‘s sojourn in the North American challenger scene has come to an end. With today’s commanding 3-0 victory over XDG, LMQ has secured its place in the LCS, America’s top League of Legends pro league, for the summer split. The good news for LMQ is, of course, bad news for the former LCS team XDG, which has officially been relegated following today’s loss.

LMQ moved from China to the United States with the goal of seeking promotion to the LCS in late 2013, and has been working since then to achieve that goal. The team’s run through the challenger scene was nearly flawless, with LMQ dropping precious few games, winning both the North American Challenger League and the North American Challenger Series on its road to promotion.

The question now, of course, is how LMQ will fare in the LCS. Although it obliterated most of its challenger opposition, top-tier LCS teams will be significantly tougher, and many LCS pundits expect the team to fall somewhere in the middle of the LCS table with little chance of overtaking the region’s top teams in the short term.
