Hey Nintendo! Are you listening? Good, glad to hear it.
So I’ve already given you the harsh truth about how badly you screwed things up, and you’ve had the night to cry into your Princess Peach love-pillow. But now it’s time to get this sorted out.
Together we can resuscitate the Wii U and get you back on the map before you are consigned to third-party software hell. Trust me, you don‘t want to go there. Ask Sega who were graded 9th best games publisher by Metacritic in 2012, and didn’t even make the Forbes list of best publishers in 2013
Cut the price of your console
You want $349 for a console that is failing when the PlayStation 4 (PS4) is only $399 and on the rise. Yet the Wii U has sold less in its entire lifespan than the PS4 has in only a few months. It’s time to get real.
You are not going to make a profit on this console, but you can still prevent it from being remembered as your greatest failure. Get the price down to $250, or lower if you can, and get people buying the Wii U before the console dies altogether. A Wii U in a house is better than a Wii U gathering dust in a stockroom.
Sideline Satoru Iwata
Iwata-san, I’m sorry. You have been with Nintendo for longer than I have been alive, but it’s time for you to disappear. Nintendo is not going to regain the trust of the gaming community nor investors while you remain the face of the company.
Industry expert Michael Pachter said the same thing when he spoke at the Game Monetization USA Summit in San Francisco, and others agree.
