In India, income tax filing is a tedious process, involving a lot of careful work. Most people need help from an accountant to do that. YCombinator-backed Cleartax makes the process simple for individuals as well as small businesses. Last year, the startup filed taxes for a million users and this year, it is looking forward to 4 million filings.

Today, it announced a seed round of US$1.3 million from a bunch of top angel investors from the Silicon Valley, including Max Levchin, co-founder of PayPal, Neeraj Arora, head of business at Whatsapp, and Scott Banister and Cyan Banister, who are investors in Uber, SpaceX, Postmates, and Zappos.
